To me, the shorthand answer is: Art is something that makes you think. Good art is something that makes you think something worthwhile. But, eye of the beholder is the final judge. For example, since when is a painting of a Campbell's soup can art? But the art of it is in the artist getting people to think it's art.

You would view numerous representations of their works, but in each of those exhibitions, there was one particular painting that could register "feeling". Awe, the sheer beauty.....and it each one of those pieces had the ability to generate similar responses by so many viewing it. So I would have to say not only does great art make you think......but has the ability to make you feel.

In the description was this phrase: ...Iconoclastic implications of stalwart republican virtues... Wow! Don't you just love words...
