It was sent to me in an email. Are they stereotyping the Arab woman, or the steward?
How do you know it was made up? Why would someone make up a story like that?
Was the purpose of Pride 2007 to protest uncooperative passengers?

I was sitting next to an Arab on a transatlantic flight. He kept mashing the stewardess call button, but was ignored. Finally a steward walked by and he said "Secuse me, I have been fingering the hostess for ten minutes, and still she does not come!"

My motto is:DON`T BELIEVE ANYTHING YOU GET IN AN E-MAIL unless it is a first-hand account from somone you know. I have participated on boards where people have posted so-called "interesting tidbits," and I have disproven about 99% of them. The story you posted was FAKE.If you think it really happened, you need to provide the documentation. Furthermore, what does that story prove?!If I can provide documentation that a heterosexual flight attendant was once rude to a customer, would that justify my position that all heterosexuals should be prohibited from being flight attendants?! |

Actually, Slydder...it's a joke, and not even a particularly believable one. You'll find versions of it all over the internet, particularly on humor sites. My guess is someone simply wanted to make a play on words concerning the use of 'queen' as slang for homosexual males, as well as probably a hint of the occasionally recurring stories about so-and-so being a prince or princess of some small, unheard of area (particularly as concerned with 409 scams).
Honestly, look up 'gay flight attendant' on google and the first things you come up with are joke sites. |

Re: Story | ||

Are most male flight attendants gay? What about pilots, is there an unusually high percentage of pilots who are gay? Why is the airline industry popular with that community?
Is it because flying goes hand-in-hand with affluence? |

It may be true that most male flight attendants are gay.Most male nurses are gay.Most male court reporters are gay.Did you know that something like 40% or so of the male employees ["cast members" as they are called] at Disneyland are gay?And nearly 100% of the male "cast members" in their parades are?Disneyland`s slogan is "The happiest place on Earth," but it`s unofficial slogan is "The gayest place on Earth." |

Why should one`s sexual orientation always be a private matter?Heterosexuals announce their sexual orientation when they tell everyone they are married and have kids. |

Regardless, people shouldn`t have to keep secrets about themselves if they don`t want to.Secrets implies that that there is something bad about themselves which they should not tell to other people. |

All we have here is half a sentence.What is the source?What is the full article?How can we comment without knowing the context of the sentence?For all we know, the fire department had a picnic and everyone was told to invite their spouses, and the Fire Chief said, "Oh, I don`t have a spouse, I am an lesbian."Please provide us with a link to the full story. |

{Fox News - Aug. 7, 2007} San Diego fire chief Tracy Jarman, an open lesbian, said she apologized to the men, according to a statement. Jarman said any kind of sexual harassment is "unacceptable, and is never tolerated" in the department. "I am deeply concerned and troubled by the allegations that have been made.I take them seriously," Jarman said in a statement. Jarman said she will order the city's Equal Employment Investigative Office to review the complaint. The complaint is the first filed against her department regarding participation in a parade or festival, Jarman said. Sounds like she is a good person, but even if you found an instance where some gay person did something wrong, so what?!There are millions of gay people in this country.Is your belief system:"Every single gay and lesbian in the United States must be an absolute perfect angel, otherwise NONE of them should be afforded equal rights"?! People should be allowed to express their sexual orientation without retaliation or discrimination.That is the issue.People should not have to stay in the closet.People should be allowed to express who they are without fear that they will lose their jobs. |

Do you guys remember the St. Patrick's day parade in NYC one year when the gays and lesbians wanted to crash it? I guess that was before the "Pride" series of family parades and fun.

For those of you who think one`s sexual orientation should be kept a secret on your job:I`d like to know if you have kept your sexual orientation a secret at your jobs?How would one even go about doing it?Every time someone asks you if you are married or have kids, you tell them to fuck off?Even if one did insist on keeping their private life private, everyone would suspect they were gay anyway or else why would they be so secretive about it all?! |

Re: Gay Pride | ||

Look, straight people don't talk about their "sex lives" at work the way gays and lesbians do. Let's not pretend they do.
I hear gay guys at work talk about their "lover" being mean to them in bed. My straight colleagues NEVER say anything like that. Not even my closest straight friends share intimate details of their sex lives. Gay means one thing: a man is either an anus penetrator or receiver. Lesbian means one thing: a woman either likes to sodomize other women or likes other women to sodomize her. There isn't any more to it than that. The human race has two sexes, male and female. If you think that there are 3, 4, 5 or more, you're living in a fantasy world. Or California. |
