If you had any aircraft you could choose, what aircraft would you pick to have under your command to support your 1946 ground forces in battle?

Why 1946? |

Because it was right after WW2 and the real jet age was a few years away. It is just what aircraft would you want to back your troops after looking at all the
aircraft available.
The F-51 and the FU4-1D was used in korea still, but what would you feel best in? Me, either a corsair or a P47-N or M. Both are acceptable. The A-26 is also a runner, but not armored enough for me. Allan |

Does the Skyraider count? I saw one of those a year ago and was just so impressed!

Sandys are quite a plane with a long lifespan over the operational years. They are still useable today. Jets just cannot stay around for hours at a time like
prop jobs can.

Sandies are another name for sky raiders. We used em for ground support in Nam. You knew you were soon going to be very better off when the sandies came in.
Now where the name comes from, I don't know, that is just what we called em. You know, like the F105 were "thuds".

I had no idea. Fascinating. We are talking about the plane with folding wings and lots of rockets, right?
